You can find a list of all the prisons in the UK along with information on each prison including contact details and what category the prison is on the ministry of Justice website:

Currently due to Covid-19 and safety reasons Prison visits are currently suspended and for prisoners inside and family on the outside this can be a distressing time but there are others ways of keeping in touch.

  • You can write to prisoners (Address of the prison can be find on the ministry of Justice website)
  • Send an email to prisoners if the prison offers this service which is considerably faster than writing however there is a cost with this service.   Some prisons also allow you to attach photos to emails so prisoners can have reminders of their loved ones. https://www.emailaprisoner.com/
  • Telephone home which is probably the most common used method. Calling landline numbers is the best option as mobile calls are costly for prisoners and with landline calls you can talk for a lot longer!

If you do not have a landline number or are not home all the time you can contact Inmate Calls who provide a service so inmates save money on every call and keep in touch during this difficult time!
